Murphy Beds in Toronto:
Maximizing Space in Style
Living in tight quarters requires innovative furniture solutions that make the most of your square footage. Whether you live in a bachelor apartment, want to create a multi-purpose space such as an office/guest room, or live in an open-concept loft (sans a designated bedroom), the Murphy bed is making a comeback in a big way.
Although the Murphy bed isn’t a new concept, it is more relevant than ever. The Murphy bed is the ideal sleeping solution for people downsizing or requiring multi-purpose spaces to optimize their work-from-home lifestyles. It is also often cost-effective, avoiding expensive renovations or needing a headboard and box spring.

Your Murphy bed accommodates your mattress of choice and is available in different sizes and configurations. Instead of being hidden in the wall, the Murphy bed is a dual piece of furniture with other features, such as shelving or desks, posing as an attractive cabinet when the bed is not in use. They are easy to open and close, taking minimum effort thanks to the efficient spring system that helps you lift the bed easily.

Frequently Asked Questions
Weight limits depend on the bed size. Generally speaking, the average Murphy bed can handle about 500 pounds for a single and up to 1000 pounds for a queen. However, our Murphy beds have an engineered weight rating of 1700 pounds.
In theory, a standard-sized mattress for single, double, or queen beds will fit in a Murphy bed. Murphy recommends a tight top pocket coil style mattress without memory foam as Memory form is fluid and can not be stored vertically for any length of time. That being said, we sell a compatible line of high-quality mattresses made specifically for our customized Murphy beds.
This is a tricky question. It depends on whether it is a DIY job or a professional installation. Professional installers will use their expertise to install the bed efficiently, which can take about 2 to 3 hours depending on the design of the bed, the condition of your walls, stud locations, etc. We preinstall a lot before we come to your home. A complicated job can take up to 5 hours. A DIY job can take much longer or be done far too fast (and incorrectly) if you don’t use the proper procedure to ensure the bed is safe and secure!
From a strictly operational standpoint, Murphy beds are safe when installed and used properly. However, children should not operate the beds on their own. It is also very important to ensure that pets and small children are not in the bed when it is closed.
A Murphy bed can be uninstalled and moved to your new home. Beds Off The Wall Murphy beds can be completely taken apart and moved, as they are fastened together with German Cam Locks designed to go together and come apart quickly. However, if you own your home and are selling to move to a larger house, the Murphy bed can add value to your home, so it might be worth leaving it behind to recoup your investment!
